BY VACHIKEPE: THE POET
I am born
Zimbabwean
He is born South
African
She is born
Malawian
They are born
Kenyan
We are born
African!
Africa with love
Africa with
beauty
Africa with
brains
Africa with
richness
And Africa with
God given powers
Beyond measure!
Yes
That is what we
are
Yes
That is who we
are
Yes
Stand up Africa
for your people
Yes
Roar out the
combined voice of our ancestors!
We are waiting
To clap hands
for your success
We are waiting
To celebrate
your independence
From poverty,
ignorance, dependence and numbness!
Take the book
From the class
to the streets
And take the
dirt
From the streets
to the doctor!
Why not heal
your
Neighbour with
words of love?
Why not heal
your
Friend with
words of love?
“Love shared
doesn’t darken the day”
One would say
“Boundaries do
not create the beauty of this world,
But distorts the
beautiful shades of the same tree!”
How then do you
measure common-sense,
When we are not
in our senses?
Who is stealing
our senses from us?
When should we
and will we
Stand up
straight
With the same
face?
Didn’t you
destroy the land,
With your
beliefs?
Didn’t you
destroy the land,
With your
languages?
Didn’t you
destroy the land
With your fears?
When will your
inferiority complex end?
Now you want to
destroy the land even with your own skin?
What-then will
your skin tell its children and grandchildren?
What-then will they
refer to you?
A hero
Without her
trophies?
A winner
Without his
medals?
A beautiful
system
Without its
fruits?
Which kind of a
tree is this?
Where is the
tree of life...
Maybe we can
have an idea!
Stop it
These are not
fruits of Africa!
Stop it!
This is not how
we measure development in Africa!
Stop it
You xenophobic
ugly jungle-behaviour!
Stop it
You xenophobic life
sucking disease!
We will not
tolerate
This king Kong
ignorant paint
For our people
and our future!
Xenophobia...
Take your bags
and go
To where ebola’s
grave is!
Xenophobia...
Burn yourself
with a big fire
Before we put
our hands together
For your throat!
“Africa
Is the future
Of balanced
development
In this world!”
Don’t you cry
My child to
come...
It is just a
change of weather
The heaven
awaits with your hug!
“Stop it
Stop it
Stop it”
Echoes the love
of Africa
Echoes the love
of mother Africa
Echoes the love
of our Africa.
END!!!
